What are Disk Fragments? The same as file fragments, disk fragments are created by the allocation of files to free space on a magnetic disk. Your computer stores files to the first free space available, and if that space is not large enough, the excess parts of the file are stored on the next piece of available space, often resulting in a file being split into a number of different fragments which then have to be reassembled whenever that file is used.
